On Monday, February 11, 2019, the TMC Innovation Institute will welcome 21 new digital health companies into their 8th accelerator cohort. After reviewing over 150 digital health applications and conducting dozens of interviews, the companies that were selected were those who demonstrated the strongest potential to impact health outcomes using data and digital platforms.

“Roundtrip was one of the companies we felt was best aligned with the needs of the Texas Medical Center and could rapidly provide value to our 61 member institutions,” said Emily Reiser, Innovation Strategist, TMCx.

We are happy to announce Roundtrip has been selected as part of the 2019 TMCx8 cohort. The Roundtrip team is so excited to get started. Houston, here we come!

Roundtrip was chosen for addressing one of the biggest barriers to care: transportation and will be represented as a key player in the Hospital Efficiency and Process Improvement track. Our patient ride booking software reduces the frequency of missed or delayed appointments and improves care coordination.

Roundtrip is in great company as we come together to connect with companies who are creating innovative solutions in therapeutic areas of neurology, mental health, and oncology and themes like patient experience, hospital efficiency, and process improvement, clinical decision support/training, and smart devices. “We are thrilled to welcome 21 companies who are solving a diverse set of problems but are unified by their utilization of data and digital platforms. We feel these teams are well positioned to gain valuable perspective and connections from the resources in the TMC.” added Reiser.

“We are looking forward to this unique opportunity to stand alongside international innovators and bring about world-class care alongside Texas Medical Center – an organization that has been leading advancement in life sciences in so many unprecedented ways.” –Mark Switaj, CEO & Founder, Roundtrip

The 2019 TMCx8 cohort welcomes companies hailing from all over the world including Sydney, Denmark, Tel Aviv, New York, San Francisco, and London. Roundtrip is representing Philadelphia’s passion for driving better health outcomes with fellow “City of Brotherly Love” health-tech company: Oncora Medical. Oncora develops intuitive software tools to help radiation oncologists collect and use real-world data about patients and treatments. Their goal is to improve outcomes for cancer patients by provided data to oncologists before, during, and after treatments.

In addition to TMCx8, Roundtrip continues to be an active part of the Startupbootcamp Scale Digital Health accelerator in Miami, with a focus on building key relationships with investors, mentors and channel partners as we grow our digital transportation marketplace to remove barriers to care nationwide. The program has been invaluable for offering insight, resources, and avenues to expand our presence with not only health providers, but also with health plans and employers that see transportation as a priority for the betterment of health.

About TMCx

Located in the TMC Innovation Institute, the program provides startup companies with shared workspace, a curriculum tailored to the needs of health care entrepreneurs and the guidance of over 200 advisors from the front lines of the industry. Companies have access to the world’s largest medical center, all without membership fees or equity sharing.

Participants further develop their companies by attending a variety of workshops and hands-on events to gain insights from experts in every facet of running a health-related business: clinical trials, FDA regulations, HIPAA/HITECH compliance, hospital procurement, commercial pilots, intellectual property, licensing, fundraising, marketing, and other critical areas.

In addition, participants work with the TMCx team to refine strategies and build relationships across the Texas Medical Center. Companies network with key thought leaders and mentors during the Advisor Pitch Event, the TMC Expert Forum and other scheduled sessions. The four-month program culminates with TMCx Demo Day, an exclusive presentation to hundreds of investors, corporate partners, hospital stakeholders, media and other guests. The TMCx team’s goal is to quickly and effectively connect entrepreneurs to stakeholders.
